River Rafting
Chattooga River . . . Flowing freely through the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains is the Chattooga River. THE premier whitewater destination in the southeast. The dynamics of this river and the surrounding area, present the most complete package nature lovers of all experience and thrill-seeking levels. Additionally there are many other rivers and creeks in the area that are running when there is enough rain or the dams are releasing.
Chauga River . . . This stretch of Chauga River is 9.8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV section of whitewater. The wonderful South Carolina scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Chauga River attract people from near and far. Relative to most other whitewater spots in South Carolina this one requires a bit more skill.
Tyger River . . . If you're coming from Newberry it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Tyger River in Spartanburg/ Union County is 11.6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater.
